Phillip Rowell

Phillip Rowell was named Special Needs Driver of the Year.
Mr. Rowell is a Special Needs Driver and Paraprofessional at Rector Johnson Middle School in Broken Bow. Rowell's selection was announced at the State Superintendent's Conference on Transporting Students with Special Needs in Oklahoma City on October 16. Only one special needs driver in the state receives the award each year. Mr. Rowell received a trophy, a letter of commendation and a $100 check from the Q'Straint Corporation.

Some of you probably wonder what's so great about this award. I mean he's just driving a bunch of kids around, how hard can that be? I've watched Mr. Rowell at his job. A lot of these students are in wheelchairs and some have tubes going this way and that. You ever tried picking up a kid and a wheelchair 30 times a day while keeping tubes from getting tangled? It's hard and it's exhausting. But he does it and never complains. He's as strong as a bull, but when he's with these kids, he's as gentle as a teddy bear. Being a Special Needs Driver is so much more than just driving. It's driving, caring, feeding, worrying, listening, cheering, lifting and exhausting.
This is a Special Award for a Special Man who does a Special Job for some Special Kids.

Idabel Warrior Pride Band!

The Idabel High School Warrior Pride marching band had a great season. The band brought home second place in class 3A from John Parnell Marching Contest, first place in large division bands at the Tishomingo Band Contest in both parade and field competitions, selected to the finals at the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association State Contest (this is the first time in ten years the band has made finals, this placed them in the top 12 bands in the state for 1A, 2A and 3A), and the band received it's first superior rating ever in the history of the program at Regional Contest in McAlester.

CONGRATULATIONS WARRIOR PRIDE BAND!

GOOD JOB DANNY & TERESA BELL!

The band will have it's annual light show Thursday night 7:30 at Warrior Stadium.

Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students.

After the light show there will be a community pep rally and bonfire behind the visitors bleachers at the stadium.

What has a black eye and a whitetail?

One station reported a hunter forgot to take out his ramrod before firing his muzzelloader and got a black eye. That however did not help the whitetail..the ramrod entered the deer and killed it.

Muzzleloader season continues through November 2.

Joe Biden: A Roman Catholic. After his selection as a vice presidential candidate, Biden was criticized by his own Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilmington bishop over his stance on abortion, which goes against the church's pro-life teachings. The diocese confirmed that even if elected vice president, Biden would not be allowed to speak at Catholic schools. Biden was soon barred from receiving Holy Communion by the bishop of his original hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, because of his support for abortion rights,however, Biden did continue to receive Communion at his local Delaware parish. John McCain: Was Episcopalian now a Baptist. He was raised in an Episcopal church and attended high school at a high school called Episcopal High School. he has attended North Phoenix Baptist Church for many years, and has said the most important thing is that he is a Christian. McCain still calls himself an Episcopalian, but he said he began attending North Phoenix Baptist because he found "the message and fundamental nature more fulfilling than I did in the Episcopal church. ... They're great believers in redemption, and so am I."

Sarah Palin: A Pentecostal evangelist and former longtime member of the Wasilla Assembly of God, a controversial church which believes Alaska will be the refuge for evangelicals from the lower 48 in the approaching End of Days. When running for governor, Palin was anointed at the church by visiting African pastor Thomas Muthee, his ministry was founded on a witch hunt in a Kenyan town. Palin has appeared to credit that prayer as a contributing factor in her electoral success.

Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin say they represent real working Americans like Joe Six-Pack, Joe The Plumber and me.

Joe Six-Pack can only afford a six-pack cause he got laid off.. but he dreams of getting a new job one day and drinking champagne or maybe bourbon...Joe ain't really a champagne kinda guy.

Party Time in McCurtain County!

This little ad has created quit a stir here. I admit I read it and thought one way.. then read it again and thought another. Any comment?

TIME FOR TWO PARTIES IN McCURTAIN COUNTY!
For most of Oklahoma's first 100 years, Democrats controlled both the Senate and the House, and McCurtain County voted for Democratic senators and state representatives.
That made sense, because having the ear of the party in power could bring the most benefits to our area.
But times have changed!
Today Republicans control the Oklahoma House and they are poised to take a majority in the Senate.
It is very likely that democrat Jerry Ellis will be our next state senator. Wouldn't it be wise to avoid having all our eggs in one basket, party-wise, especially with that party being in the minority?
If McCurtain County is ever going to join the rest of the state in having a two-party system, we need to support good people-of both parties-who are willing to stick their necks out and run for office.
We believe Rusty Farley is such a person who can help bring a two-party system here and help benefit our people. For that matter, Rusty favors non-partisan county elections.
He is a good, honest man who cares deeply about this county. We humbly ask that county Democrats give him consideration.

This is Eleanor Rose Suttle. Eleanor Rose was diagnosed with bilateral retinolastoma, that's cancer in both her retinas. Eleanor's parents first noticed signs of the disease when their daughter was about 4 months old. They noticed a white reflection in her eyes with flash photography. It's kind of like the red eye that some people get in pictures, only it's white.

As part of a last resort effort to save the little girl's vision, doctors have recommended immediate proton radiation. The $140, 000 treatment isn't covered by the family's medical insurance provider. On October 20,2008 the hospital will do this new proton radiation procedure, but the Suttle's have to have $70,000. Right now the Suttle's have about $46,000.
I don't like putting pictures of kids on the Internet. But how could anyone look at that sweet baby and not want to help her. There is an account set up at First National Bank in DeQueen, Ark, also contributions can be mailed to: Chuck Darby at Faith Christian Center, 100 Tanglewood Drive, Broken Bow, OK 74728 (these must be delivered by noon Tuesday so the funds can be hand delivered to the Suttle's) You can also take a donation to one of our local churches.
I know times are hard right now. I know it makes us mad our government can spend $700 billion to bail out a bunch of greedy idiots. But when it comes to kids like Eleanore Rose, there's not even $140,000 to help save them.
If all you can give is $5.. just remember this...1000 other people might only be able to give $5. It adds up. If you can't give anything and your the praying kind...give her a prayer.

Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher related to Charles Keating-of the Keating Five Scandal!

Seems the Republicans thought they had a real live Joe Six-Pack that rejected Barack Obama’s tax plan. But what they forgot to do was have someone check Joe Wurzelbacher’s background.

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Robert Wurzelbacher is Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

It just gets better and better for Joe The Plumber.

His full name is Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher. He owes back taxes. He doesn't have a plumbers license. He never completed an apprenticeship and he doesn't belong to the plumber's union (which endorse Obama). And the plumbing business he wants to buy, Newall Plumbing & Heating, is a two-man operation.

Joe The Plumber Wurzelbacher came to prominence last week when he asked Obama about his tax plan during a campaign stop, which led to an appearance on a Fox News talk show and an invitation to a McCain rally.

Joe Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio, declined to say who he will vote for in the November 4 election. BUT.....

He said he wasn't swayed by Obama's health-care pitch, either, describing it as "just one more step toward socialism."
He said he was pleased with McCain's performance. "McCain came across with some solid points, and I was real happy about that," he said.

The Broken Bow News said some lucky visitors were treated to demonstration flights.

And some lucky visitors were treated to a glimpse of my shiny hiney.

Slightly Confusing

McCurtain County Daily Gazette

Idabel Police are investigating the second armed home invasion and burglary in this county in one week. The first occurred at Wright City last week and has not yet been solved.

The second home invasion is slightly confusing, as there seems to be more to the situation than what some of those involved reported to officers.

A couple called police early Monday morning, saying one of their friends had just called and said he had been robbed at gunpoint. The couple translated for the victim, who could not speak English. The man said that two men armed with large pistols had forced their way into his home on the *** block of Northeast *th Street and held him down at gunpoint. The men kept demanding to know where a girl was. The victim said he didn't know who they were talking about, nor had he ever seen the men before. As one man held him down at gunpoint, the other man ransacked the house, stealing $800 cash and the man's wallet. Both men then left in a black Taurus, he told officers.

A neighbor across the street told police that while cleaning his camper he noticed a black Taurus drive by several times without lights on. Shortly afterwards, a woman came walking down the street and went into a home next door to the victims' house. Then the Taurus returned and two men with guns went into the house. All three - the two men and the woman - later got into the car and drove away, the man told officers.

The woman helping the victim translate said she believed she knew the woman that the suspects were looking for and might know where she was. She then drove to a local motel as officers put out an alert to all law enforcement officers for the black Taurus. When the woman arrived at the local motel, she saw the Taurus and two men leaning against a motel room door, as if they were listening to a conversation inside the room. As they saw the woman pull up to the motel, though, the men both ran, she said.

The woman honked her horn outside the motel room, and a woman and man came outside. The woman coming out of the motel room was on a cell phone telling someone that two men were trying to kill her. The woman driving the car tried to convince the man and woman to go with her, but they got into the Taurus with the two men, she said.

Just as the Taurus was about to drive away, an officer spotted the car and made a traffic stop in the parking lot. The driver, a 28-year-old Idabel man, told officers that there was .45 pistol in the car. Everyone except a handicapped man with no legs was taken out of the car. When the officer couldn't find the gun, he asked the handicapped man to lean over. The gun was underneath the man, the officer noted. The driver was arrested for driving under suspension, carrying a loaded firearm and other traffic citations.

The victim made several complaints against the suspects and believed he could pick them out of a photo lineup, but many of those at the scene would not give statements, officers said.

The case was turned over to detectives this morning.

A Report

Idabel police took a report a woman's boyfriend had assaulted her. After the argument the man left and took two TVs and a fan.

The boyfriend later returned, kicked in a door and started hitting her in the head with a pair of shoes. She was able to get away, but then he jumped on top of her and twisted her wrist.

The woman made an assault and battery complaint against the 27 yr-old Idabel man.

Deputies took a report of a woman's son breaking into her house while she is at work. She said the man watches TV and leaves before she gets there.

She said the 25 yr-old has also taken some power tools from her house.

Deputies took a report of two TVs stolen from an unlocked cabin in Hochatown.

And Idabel police took a report of a man stealing beer from a refrigerator on a woman's porch.

Down here in Southeast Oklahoma, we don't get Oklahoma News Stations. It's true, we're in the State of Oklahoma, but we have no idea what's going on in the State of Oklahoma. So sorry, but we didn't get to see your debate. If we want to know anything about your debate, or you, we have to get on the Internet. Down here in Southeast Oklahoma we only get Texas or Louisiana news stations. We know deep down the Oklahoma news stations care about us. Cause every time something bad happens here.. they all show up. We don't get to watch any of it.. so we have no idea what's being reported. We can tell you all about who's running against who in Texas and Louisiana...we can't vote for them, but we can tell you all about them. And please don't think we don't appreciate the Texas and Louisiana news stations. We do...during bad weather those news stations are right there for Southeast Oklahoma. Keeping us informed, including us on the map, and watching over us. Don't get us wrong, I'm sure the Oklahoma news stations are keeping us informed...we just don't know it. SHUT UP! SHUT UP already about the past. We have people losing jobs here now! And what are we hearing from all of you today? We hear who did what with who 5, 10, 15, 20 friggin' years ago! We've been down that road already! We don't want to travel it again! We want to hear about what your going to do today and tomorrow. We don't want to keep hearing what's been done! Here's a newsflash.....what's been done is not helping us with insurance for our kids. What's been done is not helping us keep our jobs. What's been done is not helping us keep our houses. What's been done is not helping create new jobs for us. What's been done IS NOT WORKING!

Bringing up old news is not what we want to hear! We want new news! We want to know what your going to do now. Stop talking about what was and start talking about what is...and what is.. is now.. today! We want to know what your going to do! Not what the other person has done!

his ex-girlfriend assaulted him

after he lost custody of their children

in court.

He said the woman "just went crazy"

scratching him.

A witness confirmed the man's story.

The woman said the man pushed her

and showed the officers bruises on her chest.

An Idabel man made an assault complaint against his brother after the man assaulted him Tuesday. The victim, who recently underwent knee surgery, said he and his brother got into an argument. His brother was recently kicked out of their mother's house for "smoking dope", he said. During the argument, the brother kicked the victim in the knee on which he had surgery. The two bickered more, but finally calmed down, the victim said. Several minutes later, without warning, the suspect hit his brother in the head with a bowling pin, the man said. He made an assault and battery complaint against the 26-year-old man.

Why Some Women Hate Sarah Palin

I am a follower of this blog http://oklahomawomen.blogspot.com/. She is the woman I dream to be--she has a brain and knows how to use it. I have a brain and one day I will learn how to use it for the good of all womankind. Until that day comes---I'm stuck here--with these women--whom I love. You'll find lots of good information for women on her blog--unlike the insane information you find for women here. But as I'm often reminded---500 times a day---THIS BLOG IS JUST FOR FUN! Why I Hate Sarah Palin.

First let me be clear about this- I Do Not Hate Sarah Palin. I do however, dislike Sarah Palin. I dislike her, not because my friends hate her, I dislike her because----She's not ready to be Vice-President, much less President! This woman has not paid her dues! She has not earned the right to be President. Yes, I know she's not running for President. But let's be real here people--McCain would be our oldest president. Nothing against old people, I'm one foot from 50, but being old is hell on the body and mind. My mind is slower, my body is slower, it takes awhile for your get up and go to get up and go.

McCain had a run in with cancer. Cancer wears you down. Cancer comes back. Fighting cancer is hard work and surviving cancer is even harder work.

Go look at the past Presidents before they took office and when they left office.

Example: President Bush then and now.

Being President takes a lot out of a person.

How much would it take out of McCain? Could it be enough to put Sarah Palin in power?

I'm not against a woman for President. I like Hillary. I admire Hillary. I don't agree with everything Hillary is for-- but the woman has paid her dues. Hillary has earned the right to run for President. Hillary has earned the right to be President.

Hillary Clinton fought and earned her right to run, Geraldine Ferraro fought and earned her right to run. Both of these woman have paid their dues.

Sarah Palin has not fought long enough or hard enough to earn her right to run this country. Sarah Palin has not paid her dues and for Sarah Palin to think she has and accept---that is why I dislike her---not because my women friends hate her, not because she's too pretty, not because she's confident, and not because she could embarass us.

Since the Democrats will have all eyes on Plain (to see if she screws up) and the Republicans will have all eyes on Palin (to see if she screws up) we feel the fair thing to do is make the Democrats drink for Palin and the Republicans drink for Biden.

This way if your sober at the end of the debate....the other side didn't screw up, and you can't say he/she did. If your drunk at the end of the debate...that means the other side screwed up, but you'll be too drunk to say he/she did.

Rules:

If your Democrat you drink every time Palin says: "you know" "I feel" "bridge to nowhere" "thanks but no thanks" "Russia" "lipstick" "blink" "righteous" "cool" and "Maverick".

Friday starts the season for deer and turkey bow-hunting. Deer limit is six, no more than two antlered. Turkey limit is one of either sex (cause who wants to stop and check the sex of a turkey before they kill it).

Muzzelloader season is from Oct. 25 to Nov. 2. No gun hunting of turkey is allowed in McCurtain County.

McCurtain Daily Gazette- Two Idabel women made simple assault complaints against each other after admitting to "exchanging words and licks". One woman said the other cursed her and then was waiting at her mother-in-law's house when she arrived.
