Remembering Staff Sgt. Brandon Farley


Staff Sgt. Brandon Farley, age 30, of Tom died September 18, 2008 in a fire fight in the Kunar Provence of Afghanistan when his unit came under attack from small arms and rocket propelled grenades. Brandon Farley is the first native of McCurtain County to have died while serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Brandon Farley had just recently been promoted to Staff Sergeant and had been in Afghanistan since July. He was beginning his third deployment. Brandon was serving in the 1st Battalion 26th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade combat team based at Ft Hood, Texas. Brandon had also served tours in the U.S. MArines and the National Guard.
Funeral services at Haworth Assembly of God Church with full military honors are pending later this week.

Public visitation will be on Friday Sept. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 at Conley-White Funeral Home in Idabel.
Funeral services with full military honors will be Saturday Sept. 27 at 2pm at the Haworth Assembly Church of God, Interment will follow in the Tom Cemetery.
