Nothing but streets and bars in Idabel

Read in McCurtain Gazette - Call the Editor
I am a 17 year-old girl, and I have nothing to do in this town but run the streets or go to bars. I do promise you I can get into any bar here. I wonder about my two little sisters. What will happen to them by the time they want to go out on the weekends? It's scary to me about kids in this town. They closed the swimming pool, and we have to be rich to go to the movies. Bring back the drive-ins, get a YMCA, get a boys and girls club. Do something.

They closed the swimming pool..... Wouldn't it be closed right now even if it was open? You know, since it's winter.

You have to be rich to go to the movies.... Your not rich enough for a $3.00 movie matinee but you can afford to go to a bar?

Bring back the drive-ins.... Umm..wouldn't the drive in be classified under movies...that you have to be rich to go to?

Get a YMCA.....Get a J O B!

Get a boys and girls club....does the boys and girls club in Broken Bow count as a boys and girls club?

Do something....like go to church and get involved in a youth group instead of running the streets.. like spend time with two sisters playing board games instead of spending time in bars.. like studying to get into a college to get a degree, so that one day you will be smart enough to fix all that's wrong with Idabel and your two sisters can be proud and say "We want to be just like our big sister when we grow up".
Do something like that?
Or
Do something.... like you grown ups need to do something to fix this while my seventeen year old whining butt runs the streets and goes to bars so my two sisters can say "We want to be just like our big sister when we grow up".
Which Do something do you mean?

PMS? PMDD? or just PO'd?

Read in McCurtain Gazette:
*A man said he returned home after his girlfriend had been sentenced to prison Friday, only to find her mother destroying his home. He said the woman threw a piece of a dresser at him when he asked what she was doing. When an officer arrived, he found an end table in a tree, a chair on a car and many other items of furniture outside the home in the yard. The man's puppy was also missing from the home, he said. Malicious injury to property and burglary complaints were made against the 46-year-old Idabel woman. The damage was estimated at $1,400.

*Two domestic abuse in the presence of a minor child complaints were made against a 19-year-old woman after she assaulted her mother and another man, the fight stemming from the way a pot roast had been cooked. The suspect said her mother could not cook and after a short argument, pushed her mother and threw a soda on her. When another man tried to restrain the woman and calm her down, she swung at him.

PMS?

*A 24-year-old Idabel woman is facing charges after spitting and scratching several police officers while being arrested. The officer pulled the woman over after he had to swerve to avoid being hit by her car. As the officer was talking to to the driver, another car pulled up and three women got out. One of the women in the group said she was the owner of the car. As the officer was talking to the woman he noticed a group of seven women approaching him from behind. The group of seven women formed around the 24 year old woman when police told her she was under arrest. Before the officers could get to the patrol car and put the suspect inside, the group of women ran over and got between the officers and the patrol car. After the officers got the women to move they put the suspect in the patrol car. On the way to the jail, the suspect cursed and spit at the officer. Once inside the jail the woman spit on the face of one office and scratched the face of another before being placed in the restraint chair.

*A 41-yr-old Idabel woman was arrested for robbing 3 convenience stores. The woman was tasered in the buttocks after becoming aggressive with officers. She was arrested on two counts of robbery by force or fear and an outstanding warrant

* A Garvin woman was arrested for assaulting her husband. The victim said he tried to wake the woman up for church and after she said she wasn't going, she began hitting him. She then followed him out the front door while threatening to kill him with a pistol. She then hit him in the head with a can opener. Deputies arrested the woman, who said the man had been hateful to her after she said she wasn't going to church.

* Officers were called to a domestic disturbance south of Broken Bow. The woman said her boyfriend came home drunk and she told him to stop drinking. When she tried to pour out his beer, he head-butted her, so she scratched his arm. The man said the woman tore off his necklace and began choking him. He showed officers marks consistent with the claim.

$1 a drink

Idabel police investigated the theft of $388 in drinking glasses from a home.

$388 for drinking glasses???

Dollar Store drinking glasses.
They're a dollar..and no one wants to steal them..cause they're $1!

Counterfeit 101

Idabel police investigated a couple using three counterfeit $100 bills to purchase items at a local store. The bills had a watermark of Abraham Lincoln's face and security tape from a $5 bill instead of Benjamin Franklin's face and a USA hundred security thread.
Lesson #1
This is Abraham Lincoln, he goes on a five dollar bill.
This is Benjamin Franklin, he goes on a one hundred dollar bill.

A separate report of a counterfeit $20 bill being passed at another business in Idabel was also taken. In this case the counterfeit bill was of much worse quality than the other case, as it had ink running down the front of the bill.
Lesson#2

Let the ink dry on your counterfeit money before you go spend it.

She's Got Legs!

Read in The McCurtain Gazette:
That a woman told Idabel police a former tenant in one of her rent houses had altered her deposit check by drawing legs on it...uh? Seems the tenant moved out and requested her $200 deposit back, but she had prorated the amount from the time she had lived in the home in November. she said the check was for $160. After writing the check the former tenant called the woman, saying the amount should have been for $500 not $160. The rent house owner later received a return on the check from her bank. Seems the suspect had drawn legs on the number 1 in $160 to make the amount $460. She had also written four over one in one hundred. Now the 39-year-old woman is facing a complaint of uttering a forged instrument.

A man and his Bible

McCurtain Gazette:
Idabel Police responded to a domestic disturbance call. A woman answered the door and was bleeding from the mouth. She told officers her boyfriend punched her in the mouth. The woman also had a swollen eye, officers said. The man denied hitting the woman, saying he was just watching TV with his Bible. While the 49-year-old man was being arrested, he told officers he was still on probation from his last assault conviction against the woman.

I never knew the Bible liked to watch TV!

Call The Nuts!

McCurtain Gazette :
Call to the Editor: I'm a Broken Bow Savage fan, and I knew it: Those coaches would take those boys straight to State, and get them out of the way and then throw the game. They have done it for years, and I don't know why. They need some better coaches.

Editor Reply: You might want to back off the mixed nuts during the holidays.

Mixed nuts! We thought it was called Leaves of Grass!

She hit who?

McCurtain Gazette:
A woman who is four months pregnant told Idabel police another woman hit him while she was waiting in her car Monday.
The victim said an 18-year-old woman she has had problems with in the past reached into her car and pulled her hair.
The woman said she hit the suspect to protect herself.

Is it just me, or does something seem wrong with this story?

Another Mailbox!

Sheriff's officers investigated a mailbox being
destroyed on Rodeo Road.

When will this nightmare end?
These poor mailboxes.

Stole It From A Man Who Stole It From A Man.

McCurtain Gazette:
A 21 year old Hugo man was arrested Monday after trying to pass a stolen check at Idabel Wal-Mart Super Center. The suspect said he didn't actually steal the checkbook, but named the man who did. The man was arrested for forged instrument, possession of stolen property and obtaining merchandise by false pretense.
(So he stole the checkbook from the man.. who stole the checkbook from the man.. it really belonged to.)

McCurtain Gazette:

Deputies investigated the theft of a .223 rifle from a man's truck while parked at a Smithville bar. The bar owner identified the suspect and the officer drove the man's truck home. The suspect admitted he had the stolen rifle, but said he wasn't the one who took it. Officers also saw a shotgun in the man's home and knew he was a felon. The 35 year old Bethel man was arrested for possession of stolen property and two counts of knowingly concealing stolen property.
(So he stole the rifle from the man...who stole the rifle from the man..that it really belonged to.)

Isn't there an unwritten rule in McCurtain County that crooks can’t steal from other crooks? And don't criminals make life rough on snitches?
Wait maybe we're thinkin' of this

Planning A Wedding!

McCurtain Gazette:
The Sheriff's department is investigating the theft of $3600 in guns, electronics, rare collectables and trading cards from a Smithville home. The victim said his family moved to Pittsburg County about a month ago, but still maintains their former home at Smithville. Recently he discovered someone had broken a window with a rock to get inside. Taken were two rifles, a shotgun, about 2,000 older NBA trading cards, rare action figures, collectables, a camcorder and a cake cutting set.

Trading cards and collectibles...selling them and using money to pay for the wedding.
Rare action figures....a wedding gift.
Camcorder...record the wedding.
Cake cutting set....cut the wedding cake.
The Sheriff's department needs us.

McCurtain Gazette:
A man called police after discovering his son's home burglarized Tuesday. He told officers his son works out of town, so he checks on his house while he is away. A DVD player and several pieces of jewelry and clothes were taken.

We're telling you it's someone getting married.
DVD Player.....watch the wedding.
Jewelry.....wedding rings.
Clothes...wedding clothes.
The Police Department needs us.

Again!

McCurtain Gazette:

My name is Ex-Husband

McCurtain Gazette:
A man called the Sheriff's department after a woman's ex-husband cracked his windshield Sunday.
The victim said he was at a woman's house when her ex-husband drove up and was angry that he was there.
The suspect grabbed a small figurine from the yard and beat the man's truck with it, the victim said.
The woman said both men are her ex-husband's.
She might want to go here http://www.i-hate-my-ex.com/front.html

Rock Handy

McCurtain Gazette:
Police are investigating the third burglary of an Idabel Medical Rental Vehicle this year. Large rocks were used to break the windshield of the vehicle, officers said. Taken were a first aid kit and a tool box which contained meters for analyzing liquids.

Guess there were no small figurines handy.

Idabel Mailbox

McCurtain Gazette:
Idabel officers investigated a mailbox being
run over.

No word on the condition of the mailbox today.
We did learn it was taken to the same hospital
as the Idabel Arm. So it should make a full recovery.

Arresting Honesty

Idabel police arrested a 35 year old woman after seeing her vehicle go left of center. The surprisingly honest woman admitted to drinking alcohol and taking Xanax. She also admitted to having a suspended driver's license and an outstanding felony warrant.

A 31 year old Holly Creek man was arrested after admitting to kicking his ex-wife with a steel toe boot. The man said the only reason he kicked the woman was because she started packing his stuff.

An Idabel man was arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest after running from officers. After smelling alcohol, the officer asked the man if he had been drinking, and he replied, "Vodka.....a lot".
