Read in McCurtain Gazette - Call the Editor
I am a 17 year-old girl, and I have nothing to do in this town but run the streets or go to bars. I do promise you I can get into any bar here. I wonder about my two little sisters. What will happen to them by the time they want to go out on the weekends? It's scary to me about kids in this town. They closed the swimming pool, and we have to be rich to go to the movies. Bring back the drive-ins, get a YMCA, get a boys and girls club. Do something.
They closed the swimming pool..... Wouldn't it be closed right now even if it was open? You know, since it's winter.
You have to be rich to go to the movies.... Your not rich enough for a $3.00 movie matinee but you can afford to go to a bar?
Bring back the drive-ins.... Umm..wouldn't the drive in be classified under movies...that you have to be rich to go to?
Get a YMCA.....Get a J O B!
Get a boys and girls club....does the boys and girls club in Broken Bow count as a boys and girls club?
Do something....like go to church and get involved in a youth group instead of running the streets.. like spend time with two sisters playing board games instead of spending time in bars.. like studying to get into a college to get a degree, so that one day you will be smart enough to fix all that's wrong with Idabel and your two sisters can be proud and say "We want to be just like our big sister when we grow up".
Do something like that?
Or
Do something.... like you grown ups need to do something to fix this while my seventeen year old whining butt runs the streets and goes to bars so my two sisters can say "We want to be just like our big sister when we grow up".
Which Do something do you mean?

The Redneck Remark Made
WTRW
The Remark Made
NAIW: So you read call the editor "Woman offended by remark made"?
BAAW: You know I did, and I know your gonna ask me what I thought cause I'm a black woman.
NAIW: No, I'm gonna ask you what you thought cause your the only one here. Duh...Yes, I'm gonna ask cause your a black woman. So being a black woman and a smart ass, what are your thoughts?
BAAW: Depends on how he said it. Did he say it like "Girl, you must be having a bad day and I'm sorry but I'm about to make it worse by giving you my bill" or did he say it like "Girrll, you must be having a bad day and you gonna need to go home and have some fried chicken and watermelon to calm down after I hand you this here bill." He might just be one of those people that use girl all the time. "Girrll how you been?" "Girl, how you doing?" "Girl, have you lost ya damn mind?" He may not realize he says it. Or he may just be a dumb ass that thinks an old nigger woman don't deserve no respect. So it depends on how he said it.
NAIW: I think women should be called ma'am. Especially older women, to me they've earned it. It's a sign of respect. I do have to disagree with the "white boys calling black women girls and gals", it's not just white boys calling black women this. It's all boys calling all women this.
BAAW: Well what about black men calling black, or any woman for that matter, hoe and bitch. What the hell is attractive about a men that says "This here be my bitch". My daughter ever brings home a boy and I hear him say "Come here hoe" I'm gonna kick his and her scrawny butts. Him for doing it and her for putting up with it. All men and boys should treat all women and girls with respect. Unfortunately, it seems some aren't brought up that way anymore. They don't respect their momma, they don't respect their girlfriends and they don't respect their wives. And it's sad some women and girls allow it. So I guess my thought on the remark made is ... I don't think it should have been a black and white issue...it should have been a show respect for women issue.
NAIW: For some strange reason I feel like listening to Aretha right now.

Sonic-America's Drive-In..... for thieves!
Sonic Hit Fifth Time
The Idabel Sonic was burglarized early Monday morning for the fifth time in six months. Officers found a glass window on a door at the rear of the business broken, similar to other thefts. Police narrowly missed the thieves as glass was still falling out of the door when they arrived. The safe was taken from the restaurant and thrown on the ground outside several times, police said. A combination key pad broke, but the thieves weren't able to get into the safe. Offices pulled fingerprints from the key pad and a metal filter used to break the glass. mccurtain gazette

Bubba Bigamy
Woman reads in newspaper that her spouse marries another!
Many people get surprised by what they read in the newspaper, but a Broken Bow woman's story is one-of-a kind. Sheriff's deputy Bruce Shirey said the woman called him after reading Tuesday's newspaper. She said she was reading the Court Report and noticed her husband, with whom she lives, had gotten married to another woman. It wasn't a misprint. Shirey checked court records and discovered the man was actually married to two women at the same time. The district attorney's office said they would have to do some research, since bigamy is not a commonly filed charge.
I can't help but wonder......where was his damn brain?

Kool-Aid Kool-Aid taste great... when your naked!

According to the paper a 42 yr old Idabel man told police a 46 yr old man he lives with got angry at him for sleeping naked with the front door open. The 46 yr old started fighting the 42 yr old while he was naked. He said the older man punched him, then grabbed his genitals and twisted. The 46 yr old had a different story, claiming his roommate was griping at him while he was trying to make Kool-aid. He said the younger man jumped on him from behind, choking and slapping him. Both were intoxicated when they spoke to police and therefore unable to make an official complaint. The 42 yr old said he would seek a protective order against his roommate.
*I can't help but wonder......what flavor Kool-aid do you think he was makin?'*

Take the money! Just leave my wiener alone!

Read this in Mccurtain Gazette:
Sonic has fourth burglary of the year!
Idabel police are investigating the fourth burglary of the Idabel Sonic Drive-In this year. Officers noticed broken glass at the East Washington business around 3:45a.m. today. Upon further inspection police found the restaurant's back door open and the safe empty. Officers said the thief either knew the safe combination or employees left it open the night before, as there was no sign of forced entry. About $500 was taken from the safe. Police obtained a list of employees and are investigating. (McCurtain Daily Gazette)
*surely it's not an employee....ya think! I've never really liked the new sonic. I liked the old one. Fun memories of the old one, and the employees damn sure never stole from the safe!........we just stole food...and drinks.....and the metal trays.*

Innocent Fishing Pole Shot!

Read this in the McCurtain Daily Gazette:
MAN FIRES ON FISHING POLE WITH A SHOTGUN! Sheriff's officers arrested a man in the Oak Hill Community early today after he allegedly beat his wife with a shower rod and shot her fishing pole with a shotgun. The woman said she went to bed early wednesday night because she planned to wake up and go fishing early today. Her husband came home drunk and wouldn't let her sleep, so she decided to wake up and go fishing. When her husband learned of her plans, he took her fishing pole behind the house and shoot it with his shotgun. Afterward, he said "Your fishing pole is waiting on you." The victim told officers she drove to Wal-Mart, bought a new phone and returned home. When she arrived, the man grabbed her cell phone and saw she had called someone he didn't like. She said he threw her against the bathroom wall grabbed the metal shower rod and hit her over the head with it. He then threw the rod at her before throwing her out of the bathroom. Deputies, said the woman had scratches and bruising on her neck, arms and legs. As officers arrested the 35 year old Broken Bow man, he admitted to fighting with the woman, but said it was only verbal.
*I can't help but wonder..... is the fishing pole alright?*
